Frederick Hurdle Day Centre is a multi-cultural centre which caters for physical and social needs of elders by offering provision which is appropriate to their individual needs.
It's Aims
- To establish a multi-cultural environment, equality of opportunity and provision of care, this is appropriate to individual needs and will work towards equal opportunity for all.
- To encourage and motivate users to develop their full potential.
- To provide social, recreational and intellectual activities.
- To accommodate religious and dietary needs within the centre.
- The centre is to be used as a model of good practice; one in which the needs of ethnic minority older people are understood and provision appropriate to those needs offered.
- The work of the centre has influenced mainstream services so that appropriate provision can be made available in the anticipation of growth in the ethnic minority older people population.
How to join the centre
- Leeds Black Elders Association will take all your details and a referral will be forwarded to Social Services.
- You will then be visited by a social worker who will assess you.
- The assessment will also determine if you fit the criteria.
- You would be given a pre visit.
The Centre
- The Centre is situated on Reginald Terrace, off Chapeltown Road, Leeds LS7. The Day Centre was a purpose built and was established at the same time as Leeds Black Elders Association in 1991. It is a single storey building with wheel chair access to all parts.
The centre is opened six days a week Monday-Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm.
